Kasoori methi Chicken

Kasoori methi are dried fenugreek leaves that are used in cooking flavorful dishes,  they have a bitter taste, thats why it is usually combined with cream or yogurt that masks its bitter flavor. Kasoori methi chicken is made by using a combination of dried fenugreek leaves and cream which yields an aromatic and utterly delicious chicken.


Ingredients:

Chicken: 500 gms
Onion: 2
Cream: 1/2 cup
Kasoori methi: 1/2 cup
Ginger Garlic paste: 1 tbsp
Red chilly powder: 1 tsp
Turmeric powder: a pinch
Salt: to taste
Green chillies: 3
Lemon juice: 1 tbsp
Cumin powder: 1 tsp

Method:

  1. Marinate chicken with ginger garlic paste, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, salt and lemon juice for 1 hour.
  2. Thinly slice Onions and fry them in the wok until golden brown, then add marinated chicken along with the marinade in the wok and cook it on high heat for 5 minutes, then turn the heat on medium, cover it and cook it for some more time. Add some water so that the chicken don't burn.
  3. Grind kasoori methi leaves into a powder and pour it over chicken, add cumin powder, slit green chillies and cook it for some more time.
  4. Once the chicken is done, on a low flame add cream and turn off the flame and stir the cream well. Kasoori methi chicken is ready and should be served hot with naan or rice.
